This section provides a solution for the case when users need to use groupware features of Outlook Connector and work in the offline mode at the same time.
Outlook Connector itself does not allow working in the offline mode. However, it is possible to use Synchronization Plug-in.
Synchronization Plug-in is an extension for MS Outlook which allows synchronization of contacts and the calendar in private folders of MS Outlook. Private folders can be used separately or in association with a POP3 or IMAP account. For more information about Synchronization Plug-in, refer to chapter 6 Synchronization Plug-in.
Follow these instructions to make it possible to use both products in one MS Outlook:
Two profiles must be created in MS Outlook(see chapter 5.2.1 Creating a new profile and account settings).
TIP: When defining profiles, do not forget to set that the list of profiles is opened upon each startup of MS Outlook (see figure 6.9 Setting the profile list).
Install the Outlook Connector in one profile and create a standard MAPI account there (for more information, see chapter 5.2.1 Creating a new profile and account settings).
In the other profile, create a standard IMAP account first that will connect to the same account as the MAPI account created in the previous step.
Install the Synchronization Plug-in in this profile. If both accounts are configured properly, all groupware features of a MAPI account are available online in the first profile and the other profile with Synchronization Plug-in can be used for working in the offline mode while working in the IMAP account. The IMAP account will be synchronized with the data at the server using the parameters set (see chapter 6.2 Synchronization).
